Effective Altruism Wellington
Based in New Zealand’s windy capital, we’re a group unified by a common desire to make the world a better place and dedicated to popularising effective altruism — a social movement and philosophy focused on figuring out how to help others as much as possible.
We hold regular discussion groups, career events and socials, as well as organising one-off events, like bringing in speakers like Jacy Reese from the Sentience Institute. We’re also open to ideas for other events we could run so if you have any, feel free to let us know!
There are a bunch of ways you can join EA Wellington and keep up to date with our future events. We have a Facebook page and Meetup group, and you can join our mailing list by adding your details to the form below. We really look forward to meeting you!
In March 2021 we are launching an Arete Fellowship in Wellington, starting the week of March 15.
The Arete Fellowship is an introductory fellowship for those who want to learn more about Effective Altruism and get involved in the community. The program will run for 8 weeks and involves weekly discussion groups on selected topics, the opportunity to connect with students and professionals in relevant areas, and personalised mentoring to help you apply these principles to your life and career.
