We are pleased to share the Effective Altruism New Zealand annual report, covering the 2025/2026 financial year. This is our first such annual report (aside from financial statements) and we’re excited to show you the impact you’ve had as a donor to Effective Altruism-aligned charitable causes we support.

As EA NZ Chair Rowan Clements recounts in the report, 2025 was a tumultuous year, with foreign aid cuts affecting life-saving programmes globally, and the New Zealand government going backwards on animal welfare causes. But despite all that, the response from our community continues to demonstrate just how many people are committed to creating a better world.

In this report, you’ll find some of the incredible outcomes our community enabled over the past year, including:

• Over $1.3M NZD raised for our high-impact partner charities

• Aotearoa’s first EA Summit, and our 9th annual EA NZ retreat

• The growth of our team from 1 to 3, with the addition of Tom and Serena
