Thank you for your support!

Together we raised over $80,000 for the Against Malaria Foundation

These funds will provide more than 9,500 insecticidal bednets, protecting around 19,000 people from contracting malaria while they sleep for the next 2-3 years. What a fantastic impact!

The fundraiser is now closed, but you can still support AMF through our main donation form.

Real change for your dollar

Over half a million people die of malaria every year: most of them children under five. Fortunately, there is a cost effective solution.

The Against Malaria Foundation distributes insecticidal bednets to protect people from malaria-carrying mosquitoes. Just $5 USD (~$8 NZD) funds a net, and every $5,500 donated saves a life in expectation.

Independent charity evaluators like GiveWell consistently recommend AMF as one of the most cost-effective and impactful charities in the world.

FAQ

  • Some charities are much more impactful than others. We chose the Against Malaria Foundation (AMF) for this fundraiser because independent evaluators such as GiveWell have consistently rated them as one of the most impactful and cost-effective charities in the world.

We’ve also found that AMF’s work (distributing antimalarial bednets) is easy to explain when sharing the fundraiser with friends, family or colleagues. It’s a great introduction to the concept of effective giving!

  • To the best of our knowledge, yes.

We’re aware that many charities offer illusory “matches”, using funds they’ll receive regardless. EA NZ fundraisers work differently. Our matching donors pledge to give if- and only if- the fundraiser target is filled. If only 50% of the matching funds are claimed, they only pay 50% of the amount they pledged, and so on.

We also ask matching donors how they’d otherwise spend the money. This helps ensure they’re not just timing their giving to participate in the match. (And pledging funds they would have donated regardless).

  • Our matching donors will keep the money they pledged. E.g. if only 50% of the the funds are claimed, the matching donors will pay 50% of the amount they pledged and keep the rest.
