We The Free is looking for a Design Lead to guide the visual direction of our global activist network. The Design Lead is responsible for the overall visual identity of We The Free. You’ll craft and maintain the templates, systems, and design standards that help our campaigns, teams, and local organizers look cohesive and powerful across the world.
You’ll provide creative direction and feedback to designers and volunteers, manage visual consistency across projects, and collaborate closely with the executive director as part of the global support team.
Key Responsibilities
Define and maintain the visual identity and design systems of We The Free
Create templates, guides, and resources for our global network to use
Oversee design quality across campaigns, social media, and branded materials
Support other team members with design feedback and mentoring
Collaborate with the development team on UX/UI for websites and web apps
Report directly to the executive director and participate in leadership meetings
Skills and Qualifications
Eye for detail and proactive ideation
Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design projects
Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Canva or Figma
Knowledge of typography, color theory, and design principles
Passion for animal rights and alignment with We The Free's mission
Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
Strong portfolio of visual and UX/UI design work
Experience building and maintaining brand systems
Experience collaborating in remote teams
Excellent communication and feedback skills
Travel Requirements
It is essential that you must be able to travel internationally a minimum of one time per year to attend our Annual Strategy Review.
Financial Compensation
In line with our Fair Global Compensation Strategy, the base compensation is partially adjusted based on regional cost of living statistics, up to a maximum (in the highest cost of living countries) of $2,454.83 USD / month.
