Make a difference where leadership and purpose meet.
Orphans Aid International (OAI) has been bringing hope and transformation to vulnerable children and families since 2004. Founded by Sue and Carl van Schreven, the organisation's work spans Eastern Europe, Africa and beyond, helping to change lives through compassion, orphan care, family strengthening, education, and direct aid.

As OAI is currently starting an exciting new chapter, relocating its New Zealand base of operations to Christchurch. We're looking for a capable and values-driven General Manager to lead New Zealand operations and help strengthen the foundations of this already successful charity and support its future growth.

Working closely with Sue as CEO and others, you'll be responsible for all New Zealand activity, leading a small, committed team across administration, retail, fundraising and compliance. Your focus will be to build strong systems, ensure smooth day-to-day operations and create an environment where people, purpose and performance thrive together.

This is a role for a people person, who combines warmth with professionalism; who can roll up their sleeves when needed but also think strategically; and who is passionate about making things work for those in poverty. You'll have experience leading teams, navigating compliance and bringing calm, steady structure to busy environments and are a natural fundraiser. Most of all, you'll be motivated by seeing others succeed and by helping Orphans Aid have greater impact in the lives of the children we serve.

This is an opportunity to:

  • Lead the establishment of OAI's new Christchurch headquarters.

  • Lead the retail operations and develop new retail opportunities/sites.

  • Free the founding leaders to focus on international programmes and growth.

  • Build the next generation of systems, people and processes that bring lasting change.

If you're ready to combine operational excellence with purpose and compassion and to help a respected New Zealand charity grow its reach, we'd love to hear from you.
