Animal Ask is looking to hire a fixed term contract research analyst to our team to assist our work in maximising the impact of the animal advocacy movement. Contract length will vary depending on whether a full-time or part-time position is preferred and any existing precommitments.
About Animal Ask
Billions of animals suffer on factory farms every year. The animal advocacy movement has so far done great work to help alleviate animal suffering, building up expertise in both public and corporate campaigns.
The foundation of these campaigns is what is referred to as an ask. This is the specific request for industry, food companies, or the government to improve the welfare of animals in their care e.g. asking the UK government to ban cages for laying hens. These animal welfare asks are implemented over a set period and if successful, can change the lives of millions of animals. However, not all asks are equally impactful - good prioritisation of potential asks can greatly increase the effectiveness of the movement efforts.
Animal Ask supports both organisations and individuals in their efforts to reduce farmed animal suffering by providing applied research. We do this either through direct partnerships with advocacy groups to tailor our research agenda to their needs or, when a broader need is identified, in engagement with a wide variety of potential users.
How You Will Make a Difference
You will contribute to our research to help inform the strategy of advocacy groups in several key regions around the world through our ask prioritisation program. Here you will analyse a variety of corporate or public policy reforms to assess their potential impact on the lives of non-human animals. For example, corporate welfare reforms on farmed Tilapia, institutional meat reduction by regional authorities or establishing a commissioner for animal welfare. Given the impressive level of effort and resources animal advocacy organisations currently put behind each ask, we think that supporting our community in prioritising the best asks is key and you would play an integral role in supporting this mission.
