Research Assistant
State of AI Report
📍Remote (Global) 💰 $100–250/day 🔄 Rolling Applications
We are seeking a research assistant to support the production of the 2025 edition of the State of AI Report. This is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a widely influential publication, deepen your understanding of AI, and help shape the public discourse around one of the most consequential technologies of our time.
Collaborate with Nathan to research and produce a compelling narrative of annual progress in AI
Read and distill complex academic papers, policy, and industry trends into clear, engaging analytical summaries for a broad audience
Create analysis, charts and slides with a consistent tone, voice, and visual style
Conceive and execute compelling, non-obvious narratives and primary research
Fact-check key content and coordinate with external peer reviewers
Support the report’s publication and distribution
Who You Are
A strong writer and clear communicator
Technically fluent—you can read and summarise cutting-edge AI research
Familiar with recent developments in AI, both academic and applied
Ideally, you have a research background or deep self-taught experience in AI
You could be a current Master’s, PhD or Postdoc, or working in/around the AI startup or industrial research landscape, or taking time off between roles
