Our highly respected Commercial Division provides procurement and grant funding advisory services to support the Ministry's strategic goals, International Development Cooperation (NZ’s Aid Programme) and service improvement initiatives. We focus on delivering great outcomes through collaborative approaches and establishing strong business relationships. As one of our Senior Commercial Advisers you will provide advice on a range of commercial projects including high value, complex global infrastructure projects, procurement and grant contracting.

  • Partner with Ministry staff to understand their objectives and provide high quality commercial advice

  • Deliver medium to high value / risk commercial transactions through external parties such as suppliers, NGOs, partners and government or international organisations

  • Develop innovative commercial strategies for unique projects in remote locations, considering broader outcomes such as increasing access for pacific business and market growth

  • Mentor and guide your colleagues in the wider Commercial Division

We’d like to hear from you if you are an experienced commercial practitioner with the following skills and experience:

  • Sound infrastructure commercial experience

  • Extensive experience in relationship building and proactive customer service

  • Excellent communication skills with strong ability to convey complex information logically and concisely

  • Proven experience in developing commercial strategies, problem solving and use of analytical skills to solve business issues

  • Understanding of The Treaty of Waitangi/Te Tiriti, Te Reo Māori and Māori customs and protocols would be beneficial
