A rewarding and challenging role, offering the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to Caritas' international development and humanitarian work. Reporting to the Head of International Development and Humanitarian Programmes, with functional oversight from the International Programmes Lead, the International Programmes Coordinator will support the planning, design, delivery, and monitoring of international development and humanitarian programmes across the Oceania region.
The Coordinator will ensure the successful delivery of the assigned programme portfolio by supporting and monitoring partners across all stages of the project cycle, with a strong focus on quality and impact. In the immediate term, this includes managing the closeout and reporting of current projects while supporting the effective start-up of anticipated new initiatives.
The role also involves coordinating project activities, supporting partners and colleagues with reporting requirements, and fostering strong, trust-based relationships with partners and funders. In addition, it contributes to programme monitoring and evaluation, promotes understanding of justice, peace, and development issues, and ensures timely information sharing to strengthen programme design and maximise impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Partnership and stakeholder engagement: Support the development, maintenance, and evaluation of relationships with partners and funders, ensuring effective communication, coordination, and timely information sharing across programmes.
Programme design and delivery: Support the planning and delivery of international development and humanitarian programmes, ensuring compliance with funding contracts and alignment with goals, budgets, and standards. Contribute to designing and securing new funding opportunities.
Programme administration: Manage documentation and records, support project management processes, and use tools to track progress and provide updates.
Partner capacity development support: Coordinate on the provision of technical support for CANZ partners which may include development of work plans, budget tracking and delivery against the work plan.
Programme monitoring and compliance: Assist with monitoring, evaluation, and reporting on programme impact and partnerships, ensuring adherence to donor requirements, policies, and international quality standards.
About you - Mō te Kaitono:
You will bring a bachelor's degree in international development, project management, business administration, or a related field, and at least three years' experience in programme coordination or project management, ideally within a non-profit or international development context.
The successful candidate will:
Demonstrate initiative in programme planning, implementation, and reporting.
Have experience in programme design support, and ideally in managing relationships and contracts with partners in the Oceania region.
Possess knowledge of aid policy and subsidiarity in international development.
Bring proven ability to build strong relationships with partners and funders (highly desirable).
Show understanding and affinity with the mission of Caritas.
Be aware of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and ideally have knowledge of Te Reo Māori and Tikanga Māori.
