💰 $116,494-$138,954 USD 🕔 Full Time
We’re hiring a Meta Special Events Lead/Head of Meta Special Events to develop and oversee a portfolio of high-impact events focused on nurturing and strengthening the EA community.
Building on the success of events like the Meta Coordination Forum, which has played an important role in helping leaders of EA organizations coordinate and collaborate, we're expanding our portfolio of meta-focused events to address key challenges facing the EA community.
In this leadership position, you’ll take ownership over this portfolio, set the strategic direction, build relationships with stakeholders, and lead a team. You'll work closely with key stakeholders to identify the most pressing challenges facing the community and design targeted events to address them.
You will report to Amy Labenz, our Director of Events, and manage and potentially grow a team as the program expands.
Responsibilities
While your exact responsibilities may evolve as we learn more, you will likely focus on:
Strategic vision and leadership: Develop the vision, goals, and strategy for Meta Special Events program and identify event opportunities to strengthen the EA community.
Project management: Oversee the end-to-end planning and execution of events, establishing project timelines, coordinating team workflows, and ensuring high-quality delivery. Monitor progress across multiple concurrent event cycles and make adjustments as needed to achieve program goals. Develop systems and processes to streamline planning and execution as the program scales.
Stakeholder engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders in the EA community, and secure participation from relevant speakers, attendees, and advisors.
Team leadership: Provide guidance, mentorship, and strategic direction to your team. Foster a high-performance culture focused on excellence and impact. Establish clear expectations, roles, and communication channels. Hold regular team meetings to review progress, set priorities, and address challenges.
Program oversight: Make final decisions on major program elements, including event formats, content themes, and target audiences. Review and approve event concepts, attendee selection criteria, and key content. Ensure the events align with the objectives of the program.
Measurement and evaluation: Iterate upon and implement follow-up processes to capture valuable outcomes attributable to our events. Use evaluation insights to continuously improve program design and execution.
High-level budgeting and funding proposals: Oversee the program's budget and develop funding proposals that articulate program strategy, anticipated outcomes, and resource requirements.
