We are looking for a strategic and innovative Principal Policy Advisor to lead and support our Adaptation Policy work programme for a fixed term period to provide parental leave cover. Reporting to the General Manager, you will work closely with a small cohort of experienced Principal Advisors across the business unit to lead the policy analysis and advice on a national adaptation framework. Key areas of focus of the role will likely include providing senior oversight of the policy development and evidence base supporting decisions on the adaptation framework. This is an opportunity for you to play a key role to influence positive change and work in an exciting policy area.

Our ideal candidate will bring:

  • strategic leadership and intellectual capability

  • sound understanding of the machinery of government and policy development

  • skills in economic analysis for public policy, including a good understanding of market behaviour

  • strong stakeholder management and engagement skills across diverse groups

  • experience working in a cross-agency environment

  • a collaborative operating style

  • intellectually sharp, capable, and agile you will lead, influence and manoeuvre through complex political situations effectively

  • coaching and mentoring experience

  • commitment to developing your cultural capability and capacity in te ao Māori

  • a tertiary qualification, certification or experience in finance or economics is desirable.

Most importantly, you will be passionate about looking for new and innovative ways of achieving environmental and economic outcomes.
