Senior Events Associate
Technology Strategy Roleplay
📍 Remote (Global) 🕔 0.5-0.8 FTE
💰£67,100 GBP/year equiv. 🔄 Rolling Applications
Technology Strategy Roleplay (TSR) have been designing and executing AI tabletop exercises highlighting AGI risk since 2017. TSR was created in 2022 as a charitable vehicle to manage contractors for the flagship product Intelligence Rising, a training workshop that lets present and future decision-makers experience the tensions and risks that can emerge in the highly competitive environment of AI development through an educational roleplay game. Across 60+ games, it has been played by hundreds of students and fellowship participants, think tank staff, tech company teams, and junior government decision makers.
TSR is now seeking a Senior Events Associate for up to 32 hours per week, managed by our Events & Partnerships Lead Anine Andresen.
Our new colleague will principally be contributing to event coordination for TSR and Google DeepMind’s Science 2030 exercise, collaborating with the Events & Partnership Lead on project management for delivery of international games and carrying out practical tasks:
Setting and managing timelines for design sprints and for workshops to be delivered across multiple international locations
Communicating with the client and other stakeholders
Sourcing personnel and managing contractors
Identifying and communicating with workshop participants
Managing workshop logistics
Budgeting and other back-end administration
For candidates available to work close to 32 hours per week, we also expect the role to encompass other tasks within the Events & Partnerships scope. As an example, the candidate might take on responsibility for managing outreach to find new clients for TSR’s original game Intelligence Rising, working with our Training Lead to assign a suitable facilitator to deliver each workshop, and following up with the facilitator on workshop preparations.
You might be a great fit for this role if you:
Are excited to contribute to exercises that shape how current decision-makers think about AI futures
Take satisfaction in shepherding complex projects from planning through successful execution, where your attention to detail directly contributes to creating polished, impactful experiences for participants
Thrive in a startup environment with significant autonomy, where you'll collaborate with motivated colleagues to both shape project outcomes and build the systems that drive our growth
About the project
Since 2024, TSR are building experience with complex, real-world productions at high quality. We are currently working with Google DeepMind to develop and deliver Science 2030, a tailored exercise where TSR is ultimately responsible for all facets of event execution and content generation.
Science 2030 portrays governments, industry, academia and civil society in scientifically advanced middle power countries as they navigate the landscape set by industry and government in the US and China, seeking to create opportunities and avoid risks from AI-powered scientific progress.
With this game, we aim to give highly leveraged participants the experience of the concerted effort, prioritization and coordination that can enable positive futures with AI tools and services, as a contrast to indefinite competitive scaling of agentic general systems.
