80,000 Hours' video programme is interested in hearing from keen and talented editors, scriptwriters, videographers, producers, and more. Expressions of interest will be processed on a rolling basis. You may or may not hear back from us.
80,000 Hours provides free research and support to help people find careers tackling the world’s most pressing problems. We want a great video programme to be a huge part of 80,000 Hours’ communication about why and how our audience can help society safely navigate a transition to a world with transformative AI.
The video programme has created a new YouTube Channel — AI in Context. Its first video, We’re Not Ready For Superintelligence, which is about the AI 2027 scenario, was released in July 2025 and has already been viewed over three million times. The channel has over 100,000 subscribers.
To support our new video programme’s growth, we are on the lookout for excellent editors, scriptwriters, videographers, and producers to work on a contracting basis to make great videos. We want these videos to start changing and informing the conversation about transformative AI and its risks.
Why?
In 2025 and beyond, 80,000 Hours is planning to focus especially on helping explain why and how our audience can help society safely navigate a transition to a world with transformative AI. Right now, not nearly enough people are talking about these ideas and their implications.
A great video programme could change this. Time spent on the internet is increasingly spent watching video, and for many people in our target audience, video is the main way that they both find entertainment and learn about topics that matter to them.
To keep improving our video programme, we need talented people who understand our style and vision and can work quickly and to a high standard.
Requirements
Be able to work at least 10 hours most weeks, and close to full time during the high-demand weeks around shoot or launch
Produce quick, high-quality output
Take feedback well
Learn our style and adapt to it quickly
About You
We’re looking for someone who ideally has:
Experience in the relevant area of video production, or other relevant skills (e.g. a background in writing may suffice for scriptwriting)
An understanding of the AI in Context brand and style
Knowledge of the current trends on YouTube
Familiarity with AI Safety

Role Details
This will be a contracting role, paid by the hour, with other details specific to each contract.
